Betty Higgins 1769
[1769]
Description:
Betty Higgins had a clothing store in the lobby of the Royal Hawaiian Hotel in Waikiki where she sold beautiful dresses, shirts and accessories. This is a late 1940's vintage Asian print Aloha shirt from Betty that is made of silk. The graphics shows Japanese men and women wearing traditional garments with details in silver metallic print on a tan background. It has a perfectly matched left chest pocket, coconut shell buttons, neckloop and horizontal button holes. Size not marked but measures MEDIUM, in inches - Shoulders 18, Chest 22, Length 30 and Sleeves 10. "Good" condition - a smudge on the front and the 70+ year old silk is fragile and has reacted in tiny spots with the dye on the back. Due to the fragility of very old silk, this one should not be worn or washed - for framing only as the front presents well but the back has pinholes in isolated areas. Please see detail photos.
